I've seen "batter" days...

What a week it has been! We are all over the news, but I'm not sure if this is the kind of media attention that we want!

Early this week, it was brought to my attention that our last shipment of vanilla pods came from an uncertified source in Madagascar. Apparently, this particular source has a list of pod abuse allegations against it, including poor harvesting standards and harsh cutting conditions.

I am personally dedicating this blog post to addressing the vanilla bean issue that we are facing. At Milk and Cookies Inc. we are committed to sustainable production and would never intentionally or knowingly use vanilla pods or any other products from uncertified sources. We also stand firmly against pod brutality and do not support the actions of the farmers in this region. Milk and Cookies Inc. is working hard to investigate how and why this shipment ended up at our facility.

We recognize that the allegations put forth by the Vanilla Pods Rights Committee are serious and Milk and Cookies Inc. would like to assure its customers that all of the right steps are being taken to ensure that the high quality of our products is maintained.

I will be updating my blog as information becomes available. The company website (www.milkandcookies.com) will also have details and updates on this issue.

Yours,
Saejal Thakore
